Rose Crocker
Australian Institute of Marine Sciences
Rose is an applied mathematician and passionate science communicator. She currently works as a programmer and modeller for the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) on the Modelling and Decision Support Team, building models and tools to assist crucial strategy for restoration on the Great Barrier Reef. Rose strongly believes in the importance of science and mathematics communication, and particularly its role in encouraging diversity and gender equity in mathematics. She has pursued her passion for mathematics communication and building a diverse community in mathematics through roles such as Student Representative of the Women in Mathematics Special Interest Group of AMS, President of the Adelaide University Women in STEM Society and Secretary of Young Scientists Australia in Adelaide.
In her spare time, Rose enjoys hiking, practising aerial circus and painting. She is very excited to continue promoting the curiosity, passion and necessity of mathematics research through her role as a host of the Random Sample.
